Using the word ‘undercover’ brings to mind the many TV shows and movies where undercover drug buys and complex stings are the norm. However, even in the simplest situations the ‘undercover’ investigative technique can be very effective. Many corporations use ‘mystery shoppers’ to spot check their regional locations to verify proper procedures are in place. These folks are acting ‘undercover’ by acting as a consumer when they are actually gathering information for a third party. Assuming any identity can provide covert insights into the activity or behavior of an organization or individuals. These activities and behavior are documented via covert video and audio devices.
